The Griffith House is a timeless and inspired design of Portland’s own internationally renowned architect, Pietro Belluschi. In 2008 the property was slated to be torn down. A group led by Tim Mather of MCM Construction Inc., composed of contractors, architects and professionals with a keen interest in historically significant architecture were able to convince the home's owner to let this group painstakingly dismantle the home piece by piece for relocation. Marylhurst University embraced the opportunity to provide a new home for the reconstructed house and has become an integral part of the team to preserve this piece of historic design. The Belluschi Pavilion will provide educational opportunities for Marylhurst students and the architectural community, and will be a resource for the community at large.
